Choosing the right Tools

Having the right tools for the job is essential. Good quality tools should last a life time - one of my hoes is over 40 years old (they don't make 'em like that any more!)

As with most things, I tend to find that the more you spend the better quality you get. For forks and spades you really should look to spend at least £15 or above. Good secateurs start at around £25-30.

Here is a list of basic tools that every gardener should have :

Spade
Fork
Secateurs - we use and recommend Felco original secateurs
Loppers
Rake
Trowel
Hoe - we recommend two types of hoe - flat and claw type. The flat hoe cuts weeds down; the claw breaks up the top layer of soil.
